Camila Mendes, from Riverdale, made an appearance in the music video for The Chainsmokers’ new single, “Side Effects” featuring Emily Warren. She appears as a hotel employee who’s suppose to work through the weekend and instead dances around the hotel. The video ends shortly after she dives into the pool in her ‘party outfit’. “Side Effects” is the Chainsmokers’ fifth song of this year on the album Sick Boy EP.
The Chainsmokers are a duo of Alex Pall as the Dj and Andrew Taggart as the producer, writer and vocalist. Pall grew up in Westchester County, New York. His dad is an art dealer and his mom doesn’t work and stays at home. Andrew is the producer, writer and vocalist raised in Freeport, Maine. Their music is EDM and pop. The duo was originally Alex Pall and DJ Rhett Bixler. They were reformed while being managed by Adam Alpert, who introduced Taggart to Pall. Pall studied music business along with art history at New York University. Taggart studied at Syracuse University. He was interested in DJing and had some original songs on SoundCloud. He joined the Chainsmokers duo after Bixler left. In 2014, they had a breakthrough with the song “#Selfie”. It changed their lives.
In 2015, both “Roses” and “Until You Were Gone” were commercial successes. In 2016, the performance of “Closer” got a negative reaction and even Taggart made a negative comment about it. In 2017, “Paris” got certified for gold in Canada and the US. At the time, it was mentioned that they had plans for a debut studio album, even though they had previously mentioned having no plans for it. They collaborated with Coldplay and released “Something Just Like This”, which broke a record when a lyrics video of the song got the most views in one day.
